List of Independent Health Experts

October 2020, Re-Check joined The Lown List of Independent Health Experts‘s coordinating panel. The List was born in 2008, when Jeanne Lenzer and Shannon Brownlee published on the British Medical Journal the piece Naming names: is there an (unbiased) doctor in the house? Shortly after, journalist Gary Schwitzer, and public health researcher Adriane Fugh-Berman came on board the coordinating panel.

What is the List about?

It is a resource for journalists to find sources – experts in medicine and health – that do not have financial ties to the drug or medical device industries.

How does it work?

Journalists may request access to the List with member contact information, through this form. Only journalists currently employed at a news outlet or freelancing will be allowed access. You may be asked to provide links to authored articles.

Can I join the list?

Are you a clinician or researcher with no financial ties to the pharmaceutical or medical device industries? Are you comfortable conveying complex topics in health and medicine to the media? Apply to be a member of the List of Industry-Independent Health Experts.

If you are a current member and you would like to nominate a new member to the list, please email Jgarber[at]lowninstitute.org with your nomination.
